We’ve been hearing a lot lately about fake news.  It is defined as a type of misinformation.  What?  We used to call those lies!  We aren’t talking about the National Inquirer either.  We are talking about mainstream media intentionally printing stories which will mislead the public.  These are certainly the days where good is called evil and evil is called good!

Then I began to think about the “Christian” shows on television.  We are being told that G-d wants us to be successful in our plans.  No, He wants us to be obedient to His plans. “Sow a seed” and you will be prosperous (financially).  No, be prudent, work hard, trust in the L-rd.

All of these things are lies which are being fed to us to take advantage of our weaknesses. The media preys on fear and ignorance.  Various preachers prey on lust for success or wealth.

Satan is the same way!  He uses the same techniques.  He is the author of lies.  What he does is try to sell us a fake life.  Fake happiness, fake joy.  He is a master at counterfeiting. You deserve a bigger home.  You should be happy; get a different spouse.

Ezra 6:22: And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

I love this verse from Ezra.  What we see in it is that the L-rd made the people joyful through the keeping of His feast and through their work on the House of G-d.  What this teaches is that our joy in the L-rd comes from following His commandments and through doing His work.
