I’ve mentioned Stumblings Stones in previous posts. I told about the stumbling stones in the Netherlands and 17 other countries, which were placed in various locations in remembrance of where Holocaust victims lived. These metal plaques, approximately 4″ x 4″, are placed along the sidewalk in front of the homes.
I just read that twenty cobblestones commemorating members of two Italian Jewish families who were deported to Auschwitz or killed in Rome were dug up and stolen in December. While reading about this latest theft, I also learned that in Berlin, on November 9, 2017, the 69th anniversary of Kristallnacht, at least a dozen were dug up and stolen.
