Today on the Jewish calendar is the 10th of Tevet. Tevet is the tenth month in the Jewish calendar. Did you know that today is a fast day?
In the Bible we read that in approximately 590 BC the armies of Nebuchadnezzar laid siege on Jerusalem. It is mentioned 4 times in Scripture and is a day on which we are called to fast. The Bible references are: 2 Kings 2, Zechariah 8:19, Ezekiel 24:1-2 and Jeremiah 52:4-6.
This was a terrible time for the people of Jerusalem. Perhaps as we fast and pray today, we can pray for the people of Israel and the hard times ahead for them. We can pray that HaShem will open their hearts to hear His word and accept His provision for salvation.
Jerusalem will again in the future be under attack. This is and will continue to be the center of spiritual warfare. Let us pray today for the Peace of Jerusalem.
